One is a petition to protect Social Security/Medicare and the other is a petition protesting high electric rates by the power companies. Good Morning!!

I just want to send another reminder about our county convention tomorrow. The convention is at 10am at the Grundy High School and following the convention there will be a special meeting for the county committee. I encourage everyone attending the convention to stay for the county committee meeting. We will be selecting thirty delegates and 15 alternates to represent Buchanan County at the 3rd District House of Delegates Convention to be held July 15th at Nuckols Hall at the Tazewell Fair Grounds beginning at 7pm. At House of Delegates Convention we will be placing into nomination Vern Presley for the 3rd district House of Delegate’s candidate.

This year is a very important year for us first as citizens of Southwest Va., Buchanan County and as a Democrat. The Republicans now believe that have the upper hand over us and that we no longer have the ability to elect a Democrat. Well, I say, they have drawn the line in the dirt for us to cross and that is exactly what we are going to do. But in order to cross that line and be successful and get our Democrat candidates elected, we must do one thing: Work together and get the voters to the polls on election day. We outnumber the Republican Party but only if we vote. If all democrats go to the poll in November and vote we will show the Republican party they do not have us on the run and that the Democrats will control the destiny of our community and country and that we will put a stop to their efforts to destroy Social Security and Medicare. At this very moment they are working harder than they ever have to start chipping away at social security and we must elect democrats to stop their efforts and protect our senior citizens and for those that will retire under social security benefits.

We must work together to elect Vern Presley to the House of Delegates, plan to attend the convention on July 15th and lets show our support for Vern.

The 3rd District House of Delegate Convention will be held July 15th at 7:00pm. The convention will be held at Nuchols Hall, Tazewell Fair Grounds, Tazewell, Va. The convention will be to place the name of Vern Presley into nomination for our candidate for the office of the Va. House of Delegates, 3rd district. Vern will be a strong voice for the 3rd district. He supports social security, medicare and medicaid and opposes any reduction in benefits for our seniors and disabled. He will lead the charge to change the GOP sponsored law that binds the powers of the State Corporation Commission and will give back to the SCC the ability to control rate increases that the GOP provided a blank check to electric utilities to control their own profit and pass increases to the public and still allowing the utility companies to make huge profits. Vern, supports the middle and lower working class citizens and will work to protect their interests to earn a living and safeguard their benefits. He will work to help the Coalfields Expressway move quickly through the hurdles to ensure a quick completion to open our area for new jobs, jobs that pay well and with benefits that the working people need so they can afford to support their families. Vern has so much more to offer for the citizens of the third district. Plan to attend the convention of July 15th and let us work together as one unit of citizens to take control of our future by electing Vern to the House of Delegates in November.
